Blotter: Riverhead man arrested in East End Drug Task Force bust

Robert Trent, 21, of Riverhead was arrested Monday by Riverhead police and members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force and charged with first-degree criminal sale of a criminal substance, according to police reports.

A task force investigation revealed Mr. Trent sold about 70 grams of narcotics on Route 58 in Riverhead on May 10, 2011, and sold an additional 78 grams of drugs on June 22, 2011, police said. He was arraigned and was being held at the county jail in Riverside.

• Richard Gundersen, 45, of Flanders was arrested last Tuesday after he allegedly took more than $400 dollars in groceries from a Riverhead supermarket without paying, according to court reports. He allegedly stole $416.65 worth of groceries from the Stop & Shop on Route 58 in Riverhead, police said. According to court reports, Mr. Gundersen was in the middle of court proceedings for a fourth-degree criminal possession of criminal property charge from last November at the time of his recent arrest on a larceny charge.

Police said they saw the suspect driving a stolen 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood worth $2,995 on Nov. 18, 2011. At that time, he was arrested and released without bail.

Mr. Gundersen was being held at the Suffolk County jail in Riverside.

• An unknown suspect took $1,650 from a wallet left in a Jamesport home, according to a police report. Police said they are still investigating the incident.

• Two unknown men stole $1,596 worth of merchandise from the Office Max on West Main Street (at Tanger Outlets) in Riverhead Sunday afternoon, police said. The suspects remain at large, and Riverhead detectives are investigating the incident.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
