Cops: Thief swiped bag from car parked at Riverhead school
Riverhead police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who used a stolen credit card to make purchases at various Riverhead stores.
On Jan. 3, an unknown person broke the window of a car parked at Pulaski Street School and took a purse left on the floor of the car. The victim later told police she learned someone was using the credit cards that were inside her purse.
A man was captured on surveillance footage making purchases with the cards at the LaCoste Store in the Tanger Outlet Center, police said.
The man was described as white and wearing a green sweatshirt, jeans, and a dark green skullcap.
Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime stoppers offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. All calls will remain confidential.
