Blotter: Choke-hold lands Sound Beach man in cuffs

• Steven Wilson, 24, of Sound Beach was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breath Monday after he put another man in a choke-hold during an altercation on Old Country Road, police said.

Mr. Wilson allegedly got into an argument with the victim and originally locked him out of a car. He eventually let the victim into the car to talk, but became angry and put the victim in a choke-hold, cutting off his breathing, according to a police report. Mr. Wilson was taken to police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.

• A Wading River man says an unknown suspect dumped bulk garbage on his property for the second time, according to a Riverhead police report. The man said he has his bulk garbage picked up on Friday and believes whoever is dumping the garbage is “using it to their advantage.” Police have not named a suspect in the incidents.

• Two gold bracelets were reportedly taken Monday from the Riverhead Care Center, according to a police report. The 14-karat bracelets are worth $2,000, according to a police report. Riverhead detectives are still investigating the incident.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
