Three people were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center Thursday after a two-car crash at a Riverhead intersection, authorities said.

The crash happened before 1 p.m. at Doctors Path and Northville Turnpike.

The victims — a man and two women — were treated at the scene by Riverhead and Flanders-Northampton volunteer ambulance workers. All three victims were alert and talking at the scene.

Riverhead police said they could not yet speak to the extent of the victims’ injuries.

According to police, a tan Toyota Camry was heading north on Doctors Path before attempting to then make a left turn to head south on Northville Turnpike, which crisscrosses with Doctors Path. At that time, a white Camry heading north struck the tan car. Airbags deployed in both cars.

Northville Turnpike was closed to traffic for about a half hour and was open as of 1:30 p.m.
