Fashion shoot conducted on runway at EPCAL
Look out trendy Hamptons, big time fashion shoots are now happening in Calverton, too.
Designer Diane von Furstenberg conducted a fashion shoot Sunday on the unused western runway at the Enterprise Park at Calverton.
A large version of the company’s “DVF” logo could be seen in the background, as a film crew occupied part of the runway.
Ms. von Furstenberg arrived at the scene by helicopter at about 10:30 a.m.
The Riverhead Town Board had approved the shoot at its meeting last Wednesday, in an agreement with North Six, LLC, the Manhattan-based production company that ran Sunday’s shoot.
The town received $400 for the use of the runway for the one day.
The Town Board is considering adopting a new ordinance that will establish a uniform policy for issuing filming permits on town property.
Currently, each case is dealt with in a separate agreement ironed out with the town and the applicant, according to Town Attorney Bob Koziekiewicz.
In the past year, the town has signed filming agreements for projects such as in-production Coen Brothers’ movie, “Inside Llewyn Davis,” the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire,” and the American version of the British series, “Top Gear,” the latter of which had filmed scenes at EPCAL last year.
