Two women were hospitalized after a two-car crash in Riverhead on Friday, town police said.

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cranberry Street and Roanoke Avenue.

Riverhead volunteer ambulance workers attended to an elderly woman at the scene before taking her to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was complaining of chest pains she believed were brought on by the force of her seat belt after her Hyundai sedan collided with an early model white Dodge pickup.

Police at the scene couldn’t immediately say who was at fault, or how the crash happened.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to Peconic Bay. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
