Blotter: 50 necklaces stolen from Tanger Outlets store

An unknown person swiped nearly 50 necklaces worth over $1,000 in total from a Tanger Outlet store last week, according to a police report.

The person removed 49 necklaces from the New York and Co. Outlet Store last Tuesday, police said. The necklaces were valued at exactly $1,113.55. Detectives are investigating the incident.

• John Brophy, 42, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with drug and traffic offenses after he was stopped on Old Country Road last Tuesday, police said.

Mr. Brophy was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument and two traffic violations, police said.

He was arrested, processed and released on $150 cash bail.

• Danny Trent, 52, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and a town code violation for an open alcohol container last Wednesday, police said.

He was arrested, processed and turned over to the Suffolk County sheriffs on an outstanding warrant, officials said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
