Photos: All red, white and blue on Flag Day

Students from Riley Avenue Elementary School showed off their patriotic spirit Thursday on Flag Day. The second graders hosted a parade in the school parking lot, read personal essays about the American flag and sang patriotic songs such as “It’s a Grand Old Flag.”

Afterward they had a musical production in the gym.

Flag Day officially became set as June 14 in 1949 with a congressional resolution signed by President Harry Truman.
