Police seek information about vandalism at Cherry Creek Golf Course

Riverhead Town Police are asking anyone with information about damage that was done on the 11th hole of the Cherry Creek Golf Course on Reeves Avenue sometime between Friday and Saturday to call (631) 727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.

Police said that sometime overnight someone drove onto the course at Sound Avenue and, at the 11th hole, intentionally spun their tires on the green and caused “significant damage” with an estimated cost of $3,000 to $5,000.

The suspect vehicle is either a midsize pick-up truck or an SUV, police said. They suspect it may have been damaged during the episode.

Police said late on Saturday afternoon that the damage to the green had already been repaired.
