Eulogy for Jeanne Zazeski
Jeanne Zazeski was not just a part of our family but a part of many families whose lives that she touched. She was known as Aunt Jeanne to most. Her zest for life was evident to all who knew her. She always took the time to get to know you and genuinely cared about people. Whenever I had a friend or family member going through hard times, she always inquired about them and lent support. She truly cared for children and although she never had any children of her own, she was a mother to many. She had a way of always making you feel special.
What is it that we remember when we think of Aunt Jeanne? She made the best baked clams in the universe and brought them to parties as often as she could. She was a great polka dancer and an avid reader. She enjoyed shopping and looked forward to going to the beauty parlor each week to get her hair done and chat with friends. She immensely enjoyed socializing and could talk on the phone for hours on end.
Whenever she was invited somewhere, she always asked “What can I bring” and always made sure to bring more than was expected. She was the first one with a dish towel in her hand to help clean up at family events and holidays. Her giving nature was evident to all who knew her and a great example to all of us nieces and nephews.
Family was very important to her and she always enjoyed spending the holidays and special events with us. She was also a loving and devoted wife who always kept Uncle Dave on his toes.
Aunt Jeanne’s death was sudden. I remember when I heard the news I simply could not believe it. God took her from us too soon but as it slowly occurred to me I realized that Aunt Jeanne indeed lived her life passionately and with great purpose. I take great comfort in knowing that she passed peacefully in her sleep.
Aunt Jeanne was well loved and made a tremendous impact on many lives with her nurturing and caring ways. I will forever be grateful for having such a loving godmother who treated me like her daughter and always made the important events in my life extra special. All of the memories that I have shared with her will forever be cherished and remembered fondly.
Aunt Jeanne will forever live in my heart and in the hearts of all of those whose lives she has touched. She will be greatly missed.
