Margaret Jean (McLeod) Westee

Margaret Jean (McLeod) Westee of Laurel, N.Y., entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones on July 21, 2012.

Born to Frazer and Isabel McLeod Feb. 25, 1923, she grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1940.

Survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Alphons Westee Jr., she was the loving mother of M. Victoria McDowell (George), Jane Cucchi and Bonnie Anderson and devoted grandmother of Cyndy Bugdin (Scott), Kristen Zuhoski (Steven), George McDowell Jr. (Tanya), Claire Cucchi, Jennifer Foster (Thomas), Bonnie O’Kane (Richard), Brian Cucchi (Catherine), Melissa Peeker (Robert) and Meghan Zeidman (Kent). She was predeceased by one grandson, Cameron Anderson. She had a special place in her heart for all 24 great-grandchildren. She was the cherished sister of Norma Coggins and Audrey Behrens. She was the adored aunt of many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, July 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a service at 8 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. Interment, private and for family, will take place Wednesday, July 25, at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to East End Hospice or Northport Veterans Hospital.
