Today’s Riverhead Community Appreciation Day event on the Peconic Riverfront was cancelled due to rain and flooding, according to Church of the Harvest pastor Mike Troiano, who hosts the annual event.

Pastor Troiano said he hopes to reschedule the ‘Rock the River’ evening music event for sometime in September.

Much of the riverfront parking lot was flooded due to Saturday morning’s downpour.

The daytime festival was to feature food, face painting, pie eating contests, slot car racing and more fro 1 to 5 p.m.. The concert, featuring Christian bands, was scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m.
