The Riverhead Fire Department responded to a grease fire in the kitchen at TGI Friday’s in Riverhead Saturday and quickly extinguished the blaze.

The call came in on an automatic alarm about 10:30 a.m. and firefighters had the fire under control shortly afterward.

There were no injuries.

The Route 58 restaurant was scheduled to open at 11 a.m. and was still closed shortly before noon Saturday as staffers awaited the okay from Riverhead fire marshal Craig Zitek to reopen.
