Registration fees went to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit which seeks to aid wounded combat veterans and their families.

The was also another event, the Shelter Island Spur Ride, that began at the American Legion Mitchell Post 281, 1 Bateman Road on Shelter Island. There were two loops there, one of 12.5 miles and another of 25 miles.
