The Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre are presenting an all-junior cast in its summer musical, “Once On This Island Jr.,” at Charles Cardona
Auditorium at Riverhead High School this weekend. Performances started Friday and continue at 7 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Sept. 15, and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16.

The show tells the story of Ti Moune, a poor peasant girl living on a Caribbean island divided by social prejudice, who falls in love with Daniel, an upper-class boy from the other side of the island. The production features a lively cast ages 8 to 14, a calypso-flavored score, exuberant choreography and
brilliant costumes incorporating rich and colorful island traditions.

Tickets are $5 for students 17 and under and $15 for adults. They are available in advance from any cast member, online at rfct.org or from Christine Springer at 255-1205. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

Laura Nitti is the show’s director, musical director and choreographer. Assistant director is Heidi Perry Hipp; Gretchen Chapman is producer; and
Judy Schiavone is costume coordinator.
