Barbara A. Michalowski

Barbara A. Michalowski of Riverhead died Sept. 15 at the age of 76. She had been battling cancer.

She was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Brooklyn and married Walter Michalowski on May 22, 1965, in Riverhead. She worked for many years at the office of the Suffolk County Clerk.

She was a member of the Riverhead Republican Club. Her favorite pastimes were shopping and spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Elizabeth Zurawski (Carter) of Westford, N.Y.; Michael (Kathy) Ferguson and David Ferguson, both of Mooresville, N.C.; Chrissie (Michael) Curtis and Paula (Skip) Smith, both of Riverhead, and Vicki (Frank) Curtis of Hampton Bays; her grandchildren Christopher Ferguson, Michelle and Cody Smith and Kevin and Mikey Curtis, all of Riverhead, Kyle and Rebecca Curtis of Hampton Bays and Brian and Joseph Ferguson of Mooresville; and her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Lily Ferguson of Riverhead. She was predeceased by her mother, Anne Collins, and her grandson Robert Zurawski Jr.

Visiting hours took place Sept. 17 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass was held Sept. 18 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
