Cops: Driver in rollover accident was driving drunk

PAUL SQUIRE PHOTO | A car flipped near exit 73 of the Long Island Expressway Tuesday morning.

The 23-year-old woman injured in a rollover crash off a Long Island Expressway exit ramp in Riverhead Tuesday has been charged with driving while intoxicated, officials said.

Gloria Neumair of Port Jefferson was driving a red Kia Spectra on the exit ramp near exit 73 about 8 a.m. when she lost control of her car, flipping it into a field, police said.

Ms. Neumair was the only person in the vehicle, police said.

She was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center where she was treated and released, police said. She was arrested and arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court.

She has not posted $1,000 cash or bond bail and is due back in court on Oct. 3, a court official said.
