Police: Wrong-way driver from Riverhead arrested for DWI
Several 911 reports of a wrong-way driver on Sunrise Highway led to the arrest of a Riverhead woman on DWI charges early Friday in Westhampton, state police said.
Lianne Alcon, 34, was allegedly driving westbound in the eastbound lanes between exits 64 and 65 about 12:30 a.m., causing several other motorists to alert the authorities, police said.
Responding troopers stopped Ms. Alcon’s 2012 KIA a short time later, officials said.
Ms. Alcon “produced a positive breath sample of .15% BAC,” police said in a release. That figure is almost twice the legal limit of .08%.
She was held for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.
