Knife, gun used to rob Flanders man

A Flanders man reported being held up at knife point and gunpoint in the back seat of a car early Saturday morning on Evergreen Road in Flanders.

The incident began in Riverhead Town, where the victim was walking home from a restaurant on Route 58 and was approached by two men who drove up and asked him if he needed a cab.

When he said he did, the men then forced him into the back of the car, where one man punched him in the face, police said.

The two suspects took about $70 in cash from the victim, then asked where he lived, drove to his home on Evergreen Road and demanded that he go in and get more money, according to police, who said one of the men had a knife and a gun and even banged on the house’s windows while the victim was inside.

The suspects were described as a white male and a black male, both in their 20s; both were tall with medium builds and weighed about 175 pounds, according to police. They were driving what is believed to be a black Ford Crown Victoria, police said.
