Carol Lorraine Rocha

Carol Lorraine Rocha, 74, of Riverhead, died at approximately 8:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012. She was born April 25, 1938, in Riverhead, N.Y., to Charles E. and Josephine Murray. She married Luiz S. Rocha of New Bedford, Mass., on May 16, 1964. They were married for 48 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, Vincent Rocha of Evansville, Ind., Gerald Rocha Sr. of Dover, Del., and Douglas Rocha of Baltimore, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl; two grandsons, Gerald Jr. and Capri; three granddaughters, Jasmine, Khalia and Karmen; one sister, Janice Peda of Richmond, Va.; four nieces, Sindy, Carol and Charlene Murray and Janice Peda; and a host of grandnieces, nephews and cousins.

Her mother and father and one brother, Charles F. Murray, preceded her in death.

Carol was a longtime resident of Riverhead. She graduated from Riverhead High School in 1957 and was a longtime member of Goodwill AME Zion Church, where she was a trustee, musician and organizer of a youth choir. She and her husband were also the owners and operators of Louie’s Furniture, an antique and used-furniture business.

She loved to cook and enjoyed reading and playing the piano and organ, especially at church. She enjoyed antiquing and visiting garage sales on the weekends.

Visiting hours were held Oct. 31 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services took place Nov. 1 at Goodwill AME Zion Church, the Rev. Fields officiating. Burial was at Calverton National Cemetery.
