Rose Lech

Lifelong Riverhead resident Rose Lech died Dec. 19 at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing Home in West Islip.

She was 90 years old.

Born in Riverhead Jan. 14, 1922, to Alexander and Maryanna Grodski, she and her husband, Walter, owned and operated Lech’s Meat Market in Riverhead’s Polish Town,

She was a dedicated member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead.

Predeceased by her husband in 1997, Ms. Lech is survived by her daughters, Mary O’Shea of Greensboro, N.C., Theresa Olson of Riverhead and Patricia Strebel of New York City; and eight grandchildren.

Visiting hours took place Dec. 21 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Dec. 22 at St. Isidore R.C. Church, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
