VIDEO: SWR wrestler wins 126-pound title at Eastern States

In high school wrestling, few tournaments can compare to the Eastern States Classic, held annually at Sullivan Community College. The stakes may not be as high as the state championship, but the competition is just as fierce — if not tougher, since there is no separation between Division I and II wrestlers.

As a fourth-place finisher in the state last year, Shoreham-Wading River senior T.J. Fabian came into this season with lofty goals. On Saturday, he served notice as one of the favorites to win the 126-pound title this year when he won first place at Eastern States.

Fabian, the No. 3 seed, defeated top-seeded Dylan Realbuto 3-2 in the finals. Click below to watch the full match.

Realbuto, a senior from Somers (Section 1), is the defending state champion at 113 pounds. He was second in the state two years ago at 96.
