Ted Curry

Ted Curry of Riverhead, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his home. He was retired from his photography business of 30 years, Curry Photographics Inc. He was the loving husband of Patricia Curry. They were married for 35 years.

Born in Boston, Mass., Ted graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, Mass., and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. He served in the United States Army.

Ted’s love of photography brought him to Central America, where he aided National Geographic in an archeological dig in the Lacandon jungle. He went on to show photographs in a gallery in Quincy, Mass., and later moved to Southampton, N.Y., to start his photography business. There, he joined the Southampton Fire Department, which he served for 30 years.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, Ted is survived by his sons, Shaun Curry and wife, Tara, and Timothy Curry of Riverhead, N.Y.; his sisters Jane Hall of Newport, R.I., and Patricia K. Curry of Framingham, Mass.; three nieces; two nephews; and many, many friends. His furry companion and best buddy Abby was his constant companion.

Visiting hours will be held at O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton on Friday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with Firematic services at 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and will continue at the Hampton Road Firehouse in Southampton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southampton Fire Department or Vietnam Veterans.
