Ray Ellis of Jamesport, a member of the Bishop McGann-Mercy football team, is among 10 high school student-athletes in the New York City tri-state metropolitan area who recently won Positive Coaching Alliance Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarships for exhibiting exemplary character in their sports and beyond.

The scholarship program honored the students during a ceremony at Fordham University that featured basketball coach Kris Wiig as the keynote speaker and Alan Strachan, the director of Central Park ice hockey, as the master of ceremonies. The winners received $2,000 college scholarships.

Ellis was recently honored with the Boden Memorial Football Award, which is given annually to a senior football player who is outstanding both on and off the field.
