Cops: Two DWI arrests overnight in Riverhead

Two men were arrested for driving while intoxicated in Riverhead early Saturday morning, Riverhead Town police said.

Jeremias Velasquez, 31, of Riverhead was arrested at about 2 a.m. on Sweezy Avenue. Mr. Velasquez was driving with a suspended license and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a felony. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said.

Ceferino Ortiz, 24, of Flanders was arrested at 1:05 a.m. after being stopped on Peconic Avenue. Mr. Ortiz was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said.

Both arrests were during routine patrols in Riverhead, police said.
