Edgar H. Ribeiro

Edgar H. Ribeiro of Riverhead died Feb. 16 at Riverhead Care Center. He was 94 years old.

He was born in Riverhead Sept. 26, 1918, to Christina (Sulowsky) and Alex Ribeiro. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Anne Slivonik in Wading River on Aug. 19, 1944.

Mr. Ribeiro was the owner of Suffolk Tire Sales and Repair in Riverhead. He belonged to the Riverhead Lions Club and Riverhead Moose Lodge and, family members said, was an avid stamp collector who also enjoyed cross-country skiing.

Predeceased by his wife in 2002, Mr, Ribeiro is survived by his children, Geraldine Knouff of Pinehurst, N.C., Ronald, of Westhampton, Susan, of East Quogue, and Judith Schmonsky of Saratoga, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church Cemetery in Riverhead. Arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
