Cops: Riverhead man stole 15K from mother

A Riverhead man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing about $15,000 from his mother, Southampton Village police said.

Richard Lee Caviness, 46, was arrested about 1 p.m. last Tuesday and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a class “D” felony, police said.

He was initially being held at Suffolk County jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, police said. He was released Friday on his own recognizance, corrections officials said.
