Cops: Alleged ‘house partier’ connected to Flanders car break-ins

Southampton Town police have connected a 17-year-old Flanders man arrested for breaking into two house last week and throwing house parties with a string of car burglaries that also occurred in the area, officials said.

Bhavesh Hasarafally admitted to a spree of stealing cell phones and other items from cars, police said. Detectives recovered some of the stolen items and are asking anyone who may have been a victim to contact the detective division at (631) 702-2230.

Mr. Hasarafally was originally arrested Saturday for breaking into unoccupied Flanders houses and throwing parties, police said.

He’s also accused of stealing items from one of the properties.

According to a police report, Mr. Hasarafally initially entered a Peconic Trail house, where police said he broke through a bathroom window Friday night to party. He then took the party to a Huntington Lane property, police said.

An earlier report in the Riverhead News-Review stated Mr. Hasarafally was arrested at the Huntington Lane home. When reached for comment, Mr. Hasarafally clarified that he was arrested at his own home, not on Huntington Lane. He also denied stealing a camera lens from the Huntington Lane home, as police had charged in a report.

Mr. Hasarafally was charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
