Police: Woman stole wedding rings in Calverton

A Calverton woman has been arrested in connection to a burglary in Calverton, during which wedding rings and other jewelry pieces went missing earlier this year, Riverhead Town police said.

Shelia Amodeo, 40, was charged July 2 with second-degree burglary for allegedly stealing almost $4,000 worth of jewelry, cash and prescription drugs from a bedroom in a Kay Road home, police said.

The items went missing between sometime in January and May 17, according to a report.

Among the items was a diamond wedding ring, a man’s wedding ring, a diamond heart necklace, along with several other gold pieces totaling $3,945, according to a report.

It was not immediately clear if the items had been recovered.
