The Riverhead school board is expected to vote on granting tenure to the district’s assistant superintendent of finance and operations, Sam Schneider, at tonight’s annual reorganizational meeting.

The move comes a few weeks after the school board accepted the retirement request of another assistant superintendent, Joe Ogeka.

Mr. Ogeka is one of 31 district employees that retired this year, a list that includes another assistant superintendent, Lois Etzel.

In addition to Mr. Scheider’s tenure, the school board will likely appoint its president and vice president and swear-in Christopher Dorr, the newest member elected to the seven-member board.
