Cops: Couple arrested on assault charges after Northampton fight

A domestic dispute between a Northampton couple turned violent Sunday afternoon after the man choked the woman and the woman struck the man with a broken chair, police said. Both the man and woman were arrested on assault and criminal mischief charges.

Police said the fight started at the couple’s home on Pine Court in Northampton about 6:50 p.m., according to a police report. There, 42-year-old Danielle Rowley grabbed a broken chair and struck her boyfriend, 45-year-old Raymond Dockery, in the head, cutting him, police said.

Ms. Rowley also allegedly “threw and broke numerous household items” worth about $1,060 in total, according to a police report.

During the fight, Mr. Dockery allegedly choked Ms. Rowley and assaulted her, police said.

Police arrived on the scene of the dispute and took both Mr. Dockery and Ms. Rowley into custody, police said.

Mr. Dockery was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and criminal obstruction of breath, all class “A” misdemeanors. He was taken to police headquarters and held for arraignment.

Ms. Rowley was also arrested and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for using the broken chair in the fight, and third-degree criminal mischief,  all felonies. She was taken to police headquarters for processing, police said.
