Gladys V. Taggart

Gladys V. Taggart of Southold died July 19, 2013, at the age of 95.

She was born Dec.14, 1917, in Indiana to Horace and Edna (Hubbard) Ratcliff. She married Vandivere M. Taggart in New York City in 1938. He predeceased her on Oct. 13, 1992.

Formerly of Florida and New Jersey, Ms. Taggart had lived on the North Fork for 81 years and will be remembered as a devoted housewife.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Van and two brothers, Melvin and James Ratcliff. She is survived by her children Thomas and Joyce, of Florida, and Steven, of Michigan; and 10 grandchildren: Vicky, Finessa, Graham, Dana, Jason, Joey, Lisa, Van, Ethan and Heather.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, where services will be conducted Wednesday, July 24, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dr. Peter J. Kelley. Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Southold.
