Police, community hold anti-crime day in Riverhead
Riverhead police officers and McGruff the Crime Dog toured the town Tuesday night as part of National Night Out, an anti-crime neighborhood watch program now in its 30th year.
National Night Out encourages residents to connect with neighbors and remain alert in their communities. Riverhead police officers split into two teams to visit six block parties Tuesday night.
The Riverhead Town Board also announced six winners of the annual National Night Out poster contest, who won certificates to mini-golf, Splish Splash and other prizes courtesy of Schwing Electric:
5 & 6-year-old age group:
1st Place: Kristina Langhorne, 6
2nd Place: Alivia Swiatosha, 5
7 & 8-year-old age group:
1st Place: Kenny O’Brien, 8
2nd Place: Riley Oak, 7
9 – 12-year-old age group:
1st Place: Sarai Velazquez, 11
2nd Place: Marissa Freeman, 11
