Cops: Riverside man arrested on warrant for theft charge
A Riverside man who was wanted on a theft charge from last year was arrested on a warrant Tuesday morning, according to Southampton Town Police.
Joe McKay, 66, had been charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property in September 2012 and had failed to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court on that charge, police said.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was located Tuesday at 11:10 a.m. on Vail Avenue in Riverside, police said.
Mr. McKay has a history of prior arrests. He was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree promoting prostitution on June 3, 2012 in Riverside, according to police. In 2010, he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, according to a prior report. And in 2007, he was charged with third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance, according to a prior report.
