David W. Flynn Sr.

David W. Flynn Sr. of Riverhead died Aug. 15. He was 77 years old.

He was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Southampton to David Fred and Victoria (Lockowitz) Flynn. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1955 and, most recently, was employed by Grumman in Calverton.

Predeceased by two stepdaughters, Carol Porter and Winnie Kess, in 2013, Mr. Flynn is survived by his wife, Beverly (Bennett) McKavish-Flynn; his son, David Jr., of Georgia; his stepsons, John and Billy McKavish of Riverhead; his daughters, Karen Ratcliff and Theresa, of Flanders; stepdaughters Katherine Porter of Riverhead and Evelyn Conklin of Mattituck; his brother, James; his sister, Barbara Robinson of California; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.
