Cops: Man with knife entered occupied home
In what police are describing as a residential burglary, a man entered the back door of an occupied Riverhead home early Wednesday with a knife and made off with a wallet he grabbed from a television stand.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect entered the Fishel Avenue Extension home about 12:30 a.m. through a screen door, police said. Once inside, he displayed the knife before grabbing the homeowner’s wallet, which was nearby, and fleeing the area on a bicycle.
He was last seen peddling south, toward Elton Street, police said.
The suspect is described as black and in his late 20s, with a medium build and short black hair and facial hair.
He was wearing a black T-shirt and black sweatpants at the time of the burglary.
