José L. Vega

José L. Vega of Riverhead died Sept. 8 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 57 years old.

He was born Jan. 9, 1956, in Puerto Rico to Angel and Anna Vega. He worked as a custodian with the Riverhead Central School District.

Mr. Vega married Sue Barnes June 4, 1978, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Family members said he enjoyed movies, wrestling, boxing, landscaping and yard work.

Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife; his sons, Andre and Gabriel, and daughter, Adrienne Greenwood, all of Riverhead; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a funeral service will take place during the evening hours. Cremation is private.
