Riverhead senior Emily Jehle signed a National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse next year at Mercy College, a Division II school in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.

Jehle plays attack for the Riverhead lacrosse team. She’s the second player on the team to sign during the Early Signing Period. Carolyn Carrera signed with Hofstra University.

Jehle excels in the classroom as well with a 98.7 grade point average. She will receive an academic and athletic scholarship to attend Mercy.

“Emily is more than just a great lacrosse player,” said varsity coach Ashley King. “She keeps the team organized on and off the field. She’s a hidden gem on the field and a real team player. She moves the ball and creates opportunities for her teammates.”

Jehle also played on the varsity soccer team this past fall as a center midfielder. Mercy College features plenty of Long Island players, including Marissa Kluber, who graduated from Shoreham-Wading River.

At Mercy, Jehley said she plans to major in public relations and communications with an eye toward working in corporate public relations.
