Shawn D. Grant

Shawn D. Grant died Dec. 14 at his Riverhead home. He was 45.

He was born Aug. 2, 1968, in Greenport to Elias and Virginia Grant and graduated from Westhampton Beach High School in 1986. He was employed as a custodian at Brookhaven National Lab. Family members said he enjoyed music.

Mr. Grant was predeceased by his brother Michael Grant and is survived by his wife, Sharlene, of Riverhead; his parents, of Southold; his children, Shakeera Parker and Shawn Jr., both of Riverhead, and Evette Ruffin of Brooklyn; his brother Elias Grant III of Maryland; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Friday, Dec. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. at Galilee Church of God in Christ, Riverhead. Interment will take place at Riverhead Cemetery.
