The News-Review’s 2013 People of the Year
The Riverhead News-Review unveiled its 2013 People of the Year in its Jan. 2 issue. Here is the complete list of winners.
Person of the Year: Michael Hubbard
“Michael has brought out the best of Riverhead. Because of his inspirational, tenacious and contagious spirit, he is the News-Review’s 2013 Person of the Year.”
Business Person of the Year: April Yakaboski
“For her creativity, business acumen and help in rebuilding a once-beleaguered area, Ms. Yakaboski is the News-Review’s 2013 Business Person of the Year.”
Public Servant of the Year: Dennis Cavanagh
“The swift [February] arrest, coupled with his illustrious 27-year career on the force, is why Mr. Cavanagh is our choice for Public Servant of the Year.”
Civic Person of the Year: Vince Taldone
“Mr. Taldone, who, unlike many of the elected officials who have worked in this recent push to help Riverside, is doing his part solely as a volunteer.”
Educator of the Year: Keri Stromski
“For instilling a love of reading in hundreds of students and advocating for equitable and quality education, Ms. Stromski is the Riverhead News-Review’s Educator of the Year.”
