Jim Callaghan

Jamesport resident Jim Callaghan, formerly of Ridge, died Jan. 16. He was 49. 

Born Nov. 23, 1964, in Bay Shore to George and Anne Callaghan, he married Jennifer Garrett Sept. 22, 2012, in Aquebogue.

Mr. Callaghan attended Copiague High School and Adelphi University in Garden City. He was employed as a business consultant for Side by Side Child Care in Southampton.

Family members said Mr. Callaghan participated in many sports, including running, golf, softball, bowling and tennis, and was involved in the Selden Hills Warriors and Great Long Island running clubs. He also served with Ridge Fire Department and volunteered for Maureen’s Haven.

Predeceased by his parents, Mr. Callaghan is survived by his wife, of Jamesport; his children, Katherine, Jesse-Lyn, Erin and Thomas; and his brother, Thomas.

Arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation was private.
