Photos: Riverhead girls fall to Smithtown East

The Riverhead girls basketball team dropped its third straight game Tuesday night, falling 46-31 at home against Smithtown East. The Blue Waves, who are out of playoff contention, are now 2-9 in League III. The Bulls improved to 9-2 in league.

The duo of Samantha Delaney and Jessica Anderson combined for 39 points, outscoring the Blue Waves by themselves. Delaney led all scorers with 20.

Sophomore Sam Dunn was the only Riverhead player in double figures with 10 points.

The Bulls outscored Riverhead 17-6 in the second quarter to open up a double-digit halftime lead.

The Blue Waves have three games remaining on the schedule, with one final home game set for Feb. 4 against Centereach.
