Cops: Teen arrested for gunpoint robbery in Flanders

McKinley Street Riverhead

A Baiting Hollow teenager has been arrested for allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint in Flanders last month with three other people, authorities said.

Roger Foster, 17, was arrested by Riverhead police last Thursday on an active Southampton Town police arrest warrant, according to a police report.

He was taken to police headquarters and charged with felony robbery.

On Jan. 2, Foster, a student at Riverhead High School, was allegedly one of the men who stole a wallet and cell phone from the victim, said Sgt. Susan Ralph. While the victim was walking near McKinley Street just after 7 p.m., a man got out of a vehicle and pulled out what appeared to be a black pistol, according a police report.

The robber demanded valuables, but the victim wrestled the weapon — actually a BB gun— away from the man, according to the report. As the two struggled, a second man got out of the vehicle and took the victim’s Google Nexus 5 phone and wallet from his pocket.

The men got back into the vehicle and drove off. There were three men in the vehicle and one woman, Sgt. Ralph said, though she could not say what role Foster is accused of playing in the robbery. Foster was arraigned in Southampton Town court and released on $1,000 cash bail, court officials said.
