Senior Night will take on a special meaning Thursday for the Riverhead boys basketball team.

On the final day of the regular season, the Blue Waves will welcome Michael Hubbard as an honorary team member. Michael, the Riverhead teenager who survived life-threatening injuries from a gel candle explosion three years ago, will be presented a letter and jersey during the pre-game ceremony, organized by the booster club. The Blue Waves will also honor the team’s three seniors. A special guest will reportedly sing the national anthem, as well.

The varsity game is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. The ceremony will take place before that start of the varsity game. The JV plays at 4 p.m.

Riverhead will face West Islip. The Blue Waves are 3-9 in League III this season after winning the title last year.
