Fifth grade student volunteers at Pulaski Street School in Riverhead recently met with Pat Mullooly, Newsday’s Kidsday coordinator, to brainstorm assignments including book and music reviews for an upcoming edition of Kidsday, a school spokeswoman said Thursday.

As part of the project, which is approaching its 20th year and was organized this year by fifth grade teachers Claire Belmonte and Dee Martin, students met individually and as a group with Mr. Mullooly, who asked them to design artwork, poll schoolmates, write book reviews and critique music by pop stars like Arianna Grande and Selena Gomez.

The students’ work is set to appear in the Sunday edition of Newsday’s Kidsday page April 20 and again April 21 through 25.
