Don’t mind getting cold for a good cause? Then register for the Maureen’s Haven Peconic Polar Plunge, set to take place March 1 in Southold.

The 7th annual plunge, which begins promptly at 11 a.m at the Wharf House at Founder’s Landing beach, will be followed by a light pancake breakfast sponsored by the Riverhead Applebee’s and hot soup from Francesca’s Pizzeria & Restaurant in Hampton Bays.

Registration for the Peconic Polar Plunge begins at 9 a.m. March 1 and includes bagels, coffee, tea and hot chocolate courtesy of Panera Bread in Riverhead. You can also pre-register for the event online by clicking here.

Last year, about three dozen people braved the bay’s chilly waters to help raise money for the outreach service.

The annual fundraiser benefits Maureen’s Haven in Riverhead, which provides shelter and other services to the East End’s homeless population.
