Cops: Aquebogue woman scams Rt. 58 employer

Southampton Town Police arrested an Aquebogue woman after they said she had forged a check from her employer, which was located on Route 58 in Riverhead.

According to police, 47-year-old Tara O’Malley had altered a check from the place where she worked and deposited it into her own personal bank account. Police did not identify the specific business, nor state how the check was specifically forged.

Police said the deposit occurred in Southampton Town, on Feb. 8.

Ms. O’Malley was charged with forgery in the second degree and possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, both felonies.

She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court, according to police.
