The Riverhead Tomcats will have a new home for the 2014 season — Veterans Field at the Enterprise Park at Calverton complex.

The Tomcats, who reached the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League championship series in 2010,  spent the past five seasons at Riverhead High School.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the Tomcats and the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League,” said league president Brett Mauser. “Enterprise Park at Calverton is a terrific facility, and we’re looking forward to hosting exciting ballgames there for years to come.”

“We are thankful for the accommodations provided by Riverhead High School and the school district,” said Tomcats General Manager Bob Furlong. “The high school will always be the birthplace of Tomcat baseball and the home to many great memories and moments.”

Riverhead will begin play at the EPCAL complex in early June, with 20 home games slated for the regular season. Four teams from the seven-team league will advance to the HCBL playoffs, with a winner slated to be crowned in early August.

Eleven former Tomcats have gone on to play professional baseball.
