Richard W. Jurgensen

Riverhead resident Richard W. Jurgensen, formerly of New York City and Hicksville, died Feb. 13 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 70.

He was born in New York City Aug. 5, 1943, to Joseph and Ethel Jurgensen. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1965 to 1967, during Vietnam. He retired from Teamsters Local 814 after serving for 45 years.

Mr. Jurgensen is survived by his wife, Joyce (née Thorburn), of Riverhead; his sons, Paul and Peter; his daughter, Elizabeth Comito; six grandchildren; his siblings, Judy Blanks, Joseph and Kenneth; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation was private. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
