An illegal turn led to a drug bust for a Flanders man Friday, according to Southampton Town police.

Walter Mims IV, 28, was observed making an illegal right turn on red at Squiretown Road and Montauk Highway about 3 a.m. Friday and was later pulled over by an officer on Flanders Road in Hampton Bays, police said.

There, the officer discovered that Mr. Mims’ license had been suspended and that he had crack cocaine in his left rear pocket, according to police. An additional search at headquarters revealed powder cocaine hidden in his pants, police said.

Mr. Mims was charged with fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, according to police.

• Kari Hamilton, 29, of Lincoln Avenue in Sayville was arrested on a Suffolk County Sheriff’s warrant for second-degree aggravated harassment Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. on Center Drive in Riverside. The warrant stems from a Feb. 18 incident she was involved in on Hilltop Drive in Southampton, according to police.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
